Transport and Fleet Manager

We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Transport & Fleet Manager overseeing our entire Group operations. This is an integral role and the post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day oversight and management of the Group Operator’s Licence and the development, performance and maintenance of the Company’s fleet of commercial vehicles.

Hours:

Full time 39 hours a week, Monday to Friday. We are open to minor variations to this pattern.

Key Duties will Include:

  • Ensure appropriate audit systems are in place to record monitoring of compliance in accordance with the expectations of the Operator Licence
  • Ensuring compliance with Driver’s hours regulations (EU and Domestic) and the Working Time Directive in accordance with legislation
  • Management of driver licencing, CPC qualifications and driver training requirements
  • Ensure that drivers are adequately trained and competent to drive company vehicles and equipment
  • Ensure completion and retention of HGV driver daily defect reports and reported defects are recorded and rectified in accordance with legislation
  • Strict management of vehicle maintenance and service regimes to minimise vehicle down-time and costs
  • Ensuring all vehicles are kept in a safe and roadworthy condition and any defects are recorded and repaired promptly
  • Developing and maintaining positive relationships with vehicle manufacturers, parts providers, maintenance contractors, hire companies and insurance companies
  • Responsible for drafting and implementing effective policies and processes which will improve fleet utilisation, reducing fleet CO2 emissions and deliver financial efficiencies
  • Monitoring fleet costs and ensuring they remain within budget
  • Managing fuel cards for Company vehicles

The Ideal Applicant:

  • Ideally experienced in both Transport Management & Fleet Management/improvement.
  • Holding a current Transport Manager Certificate Of Professional Competence.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing a fleet strategy.
  • Experienced in financial management and controlling budgets.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of statutory requirements relating to the operation of a vehicle fleet.
